To take our community outreach and financial education efforts to the next level, we launched a 501(c)(3) corporation – the SCE FCU Foundation. It provides the ability to raise significant amounts of money, beyond our membership, to broaden assistance to local community organizations. The Foundation’s goal is to increase financial education in the region so that underserved segments of our communities will show measurable economic growth.
To raise funds, the Foundation relies on donations from SCE FCU members, employees, and Board of Directors, as well as pursuing grant projects aimed at promoting financial education. The Foundation is overseen by its own Board of Directors comprised of SCE FCU managers and current or past members of the SCE FCU Board. They meet bi-monthly to determine strategic process and direction, and approve the one to two nonprofit organizations within each SCE FCU branch community selected each year to receive monetary support, financial education and volunteer assistance.
